Traditional cylinder locks used in most PVC-u doors are open to attack from unscrupulous thieves. Many doors are made from PVC-u or composite will probably feel very secure and make you feel safe but what most door installers do not warn homeowners about is the fact that  the entire locking mechanism of your door relies on one aspect, the Key Cylinder. The Key Cylinder is the aspect of the door under the new threat of Cylinder Snapping and Cylinder Bumping,  the new favoured way for criminals to get around door security.  Thankfully, Crystal doors have an improved locking mechanism that is ‘Anti-Snap, Anti-Bump Anti-Drill and Anti-Pick’ as standard. Whilst some installers fit the cheapest lock possible, at Crystal we combine innovative design, sophisticated technology and safety to ensure our doors are more than fit for purpose – securing your homes.

What is Lock Bumping?
Lock Bumping keys are used legitimately by locksmiths and therefore legally available. In 1970s, a locksmith in Denmark shared the technique for knocking on a lock cylinder while applying slight pressure to the back of the lock plug. Simply it is a lock picking technique for opening a pin tumble lock using a specially-crafted bump key. So if a thief knows this technique and has this key they have the key to your home.
